Galaxy Note 4 vs Note 3 Comparison: Review of Specs, Features and Design of Samsung's Top Phones

Perhaps the best way to explore the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which is slated for an October 17 release in the U.S., is to compare it with its predecessor - the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

For Samsung, developing the Galaxy Note 4 is indeed a monumental step forward. The latest phablet is being promoted as an "innovative breakthrough" of the company with an entirely made-over design.

Samsung has developed the Galaxy Note 4 with a "premium metallic side frame" and "fluid curvature" on its 2.5D glass screen.

The soft-textured polycarbonate back cover of the device along with a faux-leather pattern provides an ergonomic as well as a solid feel for unbelievable comfort that makes it easy to use it with one hand.

Therefore, notwithstanding the 5.7-inch size, the latest Galaxy Note 4 is easy and comfortable to carry as well as use. This is one of the major selling points of the new phablet - an irrefutable advantage over the Galaxy Note 3, which might be the last device to come in a plastic build.

Under the hood, the two devices are almost same in terms of the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

However, the Galaxy Note 4 has a superior display and a more highly developed processor compared to the Galaxy Note 3. The latest Note is powered by a quad-core 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 processor, and it comes a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display having a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 (515 ppi). On the other hand, the Note 3 also measures 5.7 inches, while its display is at 1,920 x 1,080 (386 ppi). It runs on a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor.

In terms of battery, the Note 3 has 3200 mAh battery, while the Note 4 comes with a 3220 mAh battery. Although this may appear to be a small change, there has been a dramatic enhancement in the battery life of the new Note 4.

The battery of the Galaxy Note 4 has a more useful charging capacity too. With its Micro USB port incorporated with Adaptive Fast Charging brick, meaning the battery life of this device can go from 0 to 50 in half an hour.

The difference between the layouts of the two devices is very minimal. Similar to the Note 3, the latest model also features a 3.5mm headphone jack, IR blaster, microphone, S Pen, and speaker, but it also comes with a fingerprint scanner.

The camera of the two devices also separates them. The Note 4 boasts a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 3.7-megapixel front shooter, an upgrade from Note 3's 13-megapixel rear- and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras.
