Galaxy S6 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Device Launching in Response to iPhone 6 Plus

While Apple has been majorly successful in creating hype about the release of its latest smartphones - the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, it seems that not everyone is impressed. In fact, users of Android devices are still waiting for the upcoming smartphone from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S6.

Following rumors of the iPhone 6 Plus not being as well-built as some would have liked, as there are some reports of the device bending when kept in pants pockets, a number of Android lovers are seeking a sturdier phone that can endure regular wear and tear, that has a large screen, and, at the same time, also looks good.

It is rumored that the much awaited Samsung Galaxy S6 will be released at the Mobile World Congress, scheduled from March 2 to 5, 2015. Nevertheless, some are of the view that Samsung may opt for an earlier release date with a view to counter the new iPhones. However, it all depends on how the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 fares when it is released later in October 2014.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is being promoted as a device that will comprise all aforementioned mentioned features and, according to some reports, it will give the new iPhone 6 devices a run for their money. In fact, the Internet is already abuzz with rumors regarding the Samsung Galaxy S6 and what can be expected of it.

The biggest rumor so far is that the Galaxy S6 will be the first conventional 4K device and that the screen resolution of the handset will be 3,840 x 2,160, which, the industry regards as a 4K standard. In addition, there are rumors that the Galaxy S6 will come with have a fully-curved screen.

The Galaxy S6 is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 or the Snapdragon 810 and it will run on Google's latest mobile operating system - the new Android 5 L. Moreover, it is also expected to be available in three variants 16GB, 32GB or 128 GB of internal memory, but can be expanded by a microSD card. This is something that is missing from the new iPhones.

There are rumors that the main camera of Galaxy S6 will be a 16 megapixel one. However, it is also possible for Samsung to install a 20-megapixel camera for the Galaxy S6.
