'Ghost In The Shell' Trailer News: Live-Action Adaptation To Arrive This March
The live-action adaptation of "Ghost in the Shell" is set to hit theaters in March, but the classic anime will return to movie theaters weeks earlier in January.
According to reports, Anchor Bay Entertainment and its Manga Entertainment subsidiary are offering in January a deluxe, limited edition of the original animated feature in Blu-ray. Selected theaters will also get a screening of the high-definition remastered anime classic by Mamoru Oshii.
The Blu-ray will reportedly feature a steel book casing with exclusive artwork by Mondo. While it has not been confirmed whether or not this edition will introduce new features, the good news for "Ghost in the Shell" fans is that this edition is totally unaltered. It is the original cut that has only been remastered in high definition.
The recently released trailer suggests that the Blu-ray version features a taste of the animated classic as it uses the original English voice track recorded in 1995. That is quite bad news for fans who have waited for so long for a new English voiceover from the "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex" cast and crew. The good news, however, is that the original Japanese voice track featuring Atsuko Tanaka, Koichi Yamadera and Akio Otsuka will remain untouched.
Fans of the anime in the U.K. can check out the animated film in a theatrical release on the night of January 25. On the other hand, details about the U.S. screening have yet to be announced. The live-action adaptation starring Scarlett Johansson is set to hit theaters on March 31, 2017.
