'Glee' Season 5 On FOX To Take One Month Break After Cory Monteith Tribute, Resumes on Thursday Nov. 7th
"Glee" Season 5 aired the highly anticipated Cory Monteith/Finn Hudson tribute show tonight on FOX.
The episode titled "The Quarterback" was very well done and the raw emotion was clear on all of the cast members, especially when Rachel (Lea Michelle) sang "Make You Feel My Love" towards the end of the show. To heighten emotions, that was Rachel's first appearance of the whole episode. Everyone watching was waiting for her to come on set.
The only questionable decision that the "Glee" writers/producers made was not to use any of the show as a teachable moment on the dangers of drug abuse addiction.
They had a tough choice though as they wanted to focus on the good and not the ugly. They did show a few cast members after the ending credits sharing about getting help for addictions and who to contact, so that was a positive step.
When asked about Lea possibly leaving the show, she said, "I feel like, for me personally, I've lost two people: Cory and Finn. Everyone is asking: 'Is it hard to do this? Is it hard to be back at work?', but the truth is it's no harder at work than it is in life so we might as well all be together as a family supporting each other to get through this together". She added, "We had a beautiful memorial for Cory in the auditorium and some of the cast members sang and people spoke about him. It only felt right that we would do the same thing for Finn, so I felt it was very therapeutic."
After three episodes in of Season 5, the show will now take a month long break and be back with new episodes on Thursday Nov. 7th.
