Google Doodle honors Grace Hopper, computer scientist

Google Doodle honors Grace Hopper, a computer scientist by displaying at cartoon on its homepage. By displaying Grace Hopper on its Doodle, Google kicked off a Computer Science Education Week 2013.

Today, Hopper, so-called 'mother' of COBOL, (Common Business-Oriented Language), which is one of the oldest programming languages, would celebrate her 107 birthday.

In 1934, computer pioneer, Hopper, graduated from Yale in Mathematics.

Hopper joined United States Navy Reserve in 1943, and later on reached admiral rank. A computer pioneer, Hopper, became an oldest active-duty officer of the US military.

Hopper showed her intelligence and humor in an interview on Letterman.

Grace Hopper passed away in 1992 and was buried with all military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.

Computer Science Education Week 2013 gets its support also from the President Obama.
