Google HTC Nexus 9 Release Date, Specs, Features, Price: Likely Launches in October 2014

If recent reports are to be believed, the Google HTC Nexus 9 will be released sometime this October. In fact, various reports have been predicting different launch dates for the upcoming device, thereby confusing consumers.

A recent report by Android Authority said that "Google is bound to release an 8.9-inch display tablet soon -- the tablet currently dubbed as Nexus 9." The report quoted two different sources familiar with Google's plans. It revealed that the tablet will be released together with "a new software initiative" and will be unveiled either on Oct. 15 or 16.

Some previous reports have claimed that the Google HTC Nexus 9 will be released on Oct. 8, since the Taiwanese manufacturer will hold an event on that date. Beyond that, on his Twitter account, developer Paul O'Brien shared that the latest Nexus tablet will debut on Oct. 24 in an event and it will be available through a U.K. carrier. There are other reports that assert that the tablet will be released on Oct. 31 or in November.

As it stands, there's no specific date confirmed as of yet, but at least the reports have pinpointed the launch to be in October.

According to various reports, that HTC Nexus 9 will have a 8.9-inch screen display with a 2048 x 1440 pixel resolution at 221 dpi. In addition, the device will come have 2 GB RAM, and HTC's famous front-facing speakers. Unfortunately, reports went on to say that the device will be rather expensive, due to all the high-end specs.

The Google HTC Nexus 9 is also expected to come with various case accessories, including a keyboard folio. The tech giant will combine the features and capabilities of iPad's Smart Cover and Surface Pro's Type Cover keyboard. Nevertheless, users can expect the keys to be more cramped compared to a standard keyboard due to the device's smaller width. The device will give access to QWERTY keys as well as to Android function keys.

It is said that the 16 GB version of the Nexus 9 will cost around $399, while the 32GB will be available for $499. The LTE version of the Google HTC Nexus 9 might cost as much as $600. There are speculations that the alleged HTC-made Nexus 9 will replace Google's earlier tablets - Nexus 7 and Nexus 10.
