Grammy-Winning Zach Williams Receives Gold Plaque Following 'Prison-Shaking' "Chain Breaker" Success
Acclaimed recording artist Zach Williams earlier this week was presented with the official gold plaque for his "prison-shaking" and record-breaking single, "Chain Breaker," after it became RIAA Certified Gold earlier this year. He accepted the plaque surrounded by his family, management, label team, and fellow songwriters Mia Fieldes and Jonathan Smith.
The single is the title track on Williams Grammy Award-winning debut LP, Chain Breaker, and was an instant hit when it released in early 2016, holding the No. 1 spot at radio for 15 weeks. The song was followed up by "Old Church Choir, which became the most successful Christian radio single in over a decade, staying at No. 1 at radio for 20 weeks, and was the second longest running No. 1 single in Billboard's Christian radio history, making Williams the first debut artist to have two back-to-back No. 1 singles. His current single, "Fear Is A Liar," continues to stay at the top of the radio charts as well, and is currently at No. 2.
Apart from his Grammy award, Williams is also the recipient of two GMA Dove Awards for New Artist and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year and a K-Love Fan Award for "Chain Breaker." He was also named Billboard's 2017 Top Christian Male Vocalist and New Artist of the Year.
On Tuesday in Nashville, Williams was also awarded by music rights organization BMI a Citation of Achievement for "Chain Breaker," recognizing the song for its national popularity and reach. Just before receiving the BMI award, Williams performed at the Historic Ryman Auditorium in front of a sold-out audience, closing out the set with the anthemic hit single.
Williams is currently on a busy tour schedule around the U.S. throughout the summer and fall, after having closed out his own headlining tour earlier this spring.
