Grand Theft Auto 5 PC Release Date: Game to Launch PC Version Before E3 2014 Convention?

Grand Theft Auto V has a possible release date in spring, according to a Czech retailer, but not all votes are in on the veracity of these rumors. The Czech based company Supergamerz listed the game to be for distribution several months from now, but is this just another in a line of several unsubstantiated rumors that have given the GTA fan-base community reason for false hope?

Supergamerz listed the release date as coming on June 13, a date with obvious significance, as it comes just one day after the infamous E3 convention in L.A. where game creators and innovators introduce new and developing games and titles.

Some rumors became widespread earlier that the game was in production for PC when screenshots from German and French regions of online reseller Amazon. These screenshots seemed to indicate that the product was being developed for as close of a release date as early 2014. These rumors remained unsubstantiated. A Nordic retailer, Eliganten, made a public statement that they would be taking pre-orders for the game on the 31st of January, but as the date approached this announcement too turned out to be a dud.

There is an ongoing petition to have the game be reformatted for the PC with a running count of around 670,000 signatures.

Though there seems to be no definite way to nail down the accuracy of some of the purported release dates, but what about the existence of the development of the PC version itself? As recently as a few weeks ago PC Gamer Magazine recently reported on a 150-page long log that included an approach to PC specific bugs and development errors. However, it may be that there is no plan from Take-Two for an upcoming PC version of the game, as there has been a great degree of success already from the online version.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick gave an interview with MCV recently and said more:

"A few years ago, we'd launch a title, it would be sold physically, then we would sell catalogue versions of it. Today we launch a title, and often, if not always, put out DLC. We've talked about recurrent consumer spending, where we have offerings where fans can engage and spend money on an on-going basis."

So the company may be focused more on recurrent consumer spending online than on copies that are physically sold.
