'Gravity' Movie Review: Alfonso Cuaron Sets New Standard for 3D Storytelling [TRAILER]
Gravity, the movie was released in theaters last Friday and is already receiving rave reviews. Directed by Alfonso Cuaron, Gravity thrives because of its simplicity. George Clooney and Sandra Bullock shine as two astronauts trying to update parts of an unused American space station.
We've all seen the trailer for the movie and essentially know that something goes wrong. An errant Russian missile destroys a far away satellite thus sending a ton of metal shards and debris towards Matt Kowalsky [George Clooney] and Ryan Stone [Sandra Bullock].
As I said, we've all seen the astronaut floating away into space in the two-minute trailer. If we're already connecting emotionally in 120 seconds, then imagine how invested the viewer is by the end of the movie.
Cuaron takes Gravity one step further than James Cameron's groundbreaking 3D epic Avatar, but not only blowing the viewer away visually, but also emotionally. All in all, Gravity has set a new standard in filmmaking and storytelling.
Unlike some 3D movies that use the new technology as a marketing ploy, Cuaron's Gravity was natural and effortless.
In conclusion, BREATHEcast gives Gravity a 4 and half stars out of 5 for being less a gimmick and more of an emotionally coherent rollercoaster.
Here's the trailer for Gravity, the movie.
