'Harry Potter 8' Hoax: Author J.K. Rowling Has No Plans to Write Another Book Despite April Fool's Joke
Those muggles are at it again! A little over a week ago rumors from earlier in the year began sprouting back up on the Internet that J.K. Rowling had confirmed a Harry Potter 8. The U.K. author supposedly told the New York Times and Yahoo News that an eight book was in the works after a lack of interest in her most recent novel The Casual Vacancy.
Here's an excerpt from the alleged press release:
Exclusive: Harry Potter 8 Confirmed by J.K. Rowling!!
Yahoo News and the New York Times today confirmed that J.K. Rowling is writing the eighth Harry Potter novel, and is already 75% done with the manuscript. Details on the storyline are hush hush, but Rowling is said to be revealing more about the upcoming HP novel later this very week in a press conference in Scotland.
The hoax first appeared online back in April as a joke and has since found life again as the holidays approach. Unsure why the story has gained back its original steam, one thing is for sure: the world of Potter and is friends is still very much in demand.
Since the first seven books were finished Rowling has refused to say she would "never" return in a few years with a new installment. But she is on record saying she has no plans as of now to pen another Harry Potter novel.
