Recent reports about "Hawaii Five-0" claim that Alex O'Loughlin, who plays the lead role of Steve McGarrett, plans on leaving the show for good.

Being one of the most successful reboot series shown on CBS, "Hawaii Five-0" has risen to popularity largely because of its lead character, Alex O'Loughlin. However, the Australian actor recently confirmed that he has already made up his mind to say goodbye to the show after season 8.

In a recent interview, O'Loughlin said he does not want to go beyond the eighth season because he wants to keep things "fresh and alive." The actor also said that as far as his physical condition is concerned, his body can only take a beating for eight installments.

O'Loughlin revealed that the injuries he sustained from filming for the series are already taking their toll on his health. He particularly cited serious back issues that require him to visit California on a regular basis just to undergo stem cell treatment.

"Hawaii Five-0" was created for Steve McGarrett, so some believe that O'Loughlin leaving the series might mean the end for the reboot. During the interview, the actor even suggested that the series has actually not been renewed yet by CBS, and that it is possible that it might not be renewed at all. However, loyal fans of the series that the November 4 episode was such a hit that CBS could not afford not to renew the series for another season.
