Hawk Nelson Former Lead Singer, Jason Dunn, Releases First Solo Single "Insecurity", Debut Album 'Abandon Progress' Coming 2014

Jason Dunn, former singer of band Hawk Nelson, has been in the studio the last year working on his debut solo album entitled ABANDON PROGRESS. His first single off of the new record "Insecurity" releases to iTunes this week.

Dunn spent 10 years with the Canadian pop/punk band that he helped build from the ground up. "It's been quite an interesting couple of years for me," says Dunn about leaving Hawk Nelson. "I quit a band that was doing well for themselves to start all over again, working my way from the ground up."

His first single "Insecurity" is about bullying which all young people can relate to in some way. "Insecurity' is a song about bullying. I wanted to release it in October, during National Bullying Prevention Month, to help raise awareness of the need for bullying prevention in schools, online and even at home," says Dunn.

Jason Dunn currently lives in New York with his wife Lenay who hosts MTV's 10 on Top, but he did the recording for his new album ABANDON PROGRESS in Nashville studios. Grammy®-nominated songwriter and producer Aaron Rice was by his side to help him put the new album together. Rice has worked with the likes of TobyMac, Mandisa, Rachel Lampa and more.

The new album contains songs about hope that come from his life-changing transition from founder and frontman of the Grammy® and Dove Award-nominated group Hawk Nelson to a solo career.

ABANDON PROGRESS will be released in early 2014 from The Paradigm Collective.

"I'm really excited to go out on the road again too," says Dunn. "That passion I had when I first started touring has returned to me, maybe more than ever. As well as writing a record, I've been putting together a great rock show for my audience that I hope they will enjoy."

Dunn is currently out with Nine Lashes on a 25-city Water Tour and will be out on tour with KJ-52 and Royal Tailor this winter.

Dunn also started a non-profit organization called the Jason Dunn Diabetes Foundation to help the lives of children and young adults living with diabetes. You can read more about it at their website www.jasondunnfoundation.com.
