Hemlock Grove Season 3 Renewed? Release Date News for Final Season; Producers Promise 'Killer' Conclusion
Reports have finally emerged, to the relief of many fans, 'Hemlock Grove' has been renewed for its third and final season. Netflix's original horror series is set to return for a 10-episode final season which will be aired in 2015.
As the show was announced for renewal, the executive producers behind the series showed their gratitude toward the show's fans.
"We are delighted that our fans have invited us back to explore the fiendish recesses of the human condition for another season. Knowing it will be our last gives us the opportunity to go out in a mushroom cloud of clever and soul-shattering mayhem. See you soon on the twisted streets of Hemlock Grove," said Charles Eglee, one of the show's executive producers.
Eglee's colleague, Eli Roth, promised that the final season would be a "killer" that would satisfy the fans' expectations for the show.
"We are so grateful to the fans of Hemlock Grove, who have championed the series so intensely over two seasons. We are looking forward to taking the last and final season into some dark and unexpected places, and to giving viewers the killer finale you'd come to expect from Hemlock Grove," said Roth.
After the second season of the show ended, some speculated that the show might not come back for its next season, since other Netflix original series performed better than 'Hemlock Grove'.
"On Netflix, more than 1.5 million people had rated the show as of this writing, giving it a combined 3.9 out of 5 stars. By comparison, 3.9 million have weighed in on House of Cards (4.8 stars) while 5.8 million have rated Orange Is the New Black (4.4 stars). Among Netflix originals, Hemlock Grove is a weak performer," writes Tim Beyers of The Motley Fool.
Although 'Hemlock Grove' managed to get a small collective of fans, it appears it has not gotten attention from enough viewers.
The horror series has been overshadowed by other Netflix original programs that are high-profile such as the Emmy-nominated political drama 'House of Cards' and the prison drama-comedy 'Orange Is the New Black'.
The renewal of 'Hemlock Grove' shows the continued effort of Netflix to keep presence across various genres.
