Hip-Hop Artist Steven Malcolm Readies For Release Of 'The Second City Part 2' On June 8
Christian hip-hop artist and multiple Dove Award-nominee Steven Malcolm is scheduled to release his second project in his "The Second City" four-part series, The Second City Part 2, on June 8. The new EP continues the artist's biographical journey beginning with his father's deportation and separation, followed by a painful childhood and teenage years before Malcolm finds his own journey through Christ.
The first four songs on the project feature Malcolm's distinct Reggae Jamaican heritage while the closing ballad, "Even Louder (feat. Leeland Mooring)," delivers a powerful worship message. Once again, Malcolm co-wrote all the tracks on the project, joined by such high-profile writers such as Charles Anderson, Mooring (Bethel Music Collective), Chris Mackey, Joseph Prielozny, and Juice Bangers (Cobra Music Group).
Earlier this month, Malcolm released a the dance-inducing new music video for his single "Not To Us/Good Love" featuring Taylor Hill and Anderson Michael and the Cantinas dancers, in a partnership with the Cantinas Arts Foundation and Red Eye, Inc. The video was filmed in the Los Angeles Watts community, and the lyrics deliver a worship message of God's love for all while the arts ministry of Red Eye and the Cantinas Foundation brings empowerment and support in the Watts community through their after-school program.
The Second City Part 1 was released earlier this year in January, receiving strong reviews all around. Throughout 2018, Malcolm is maintaining a busy schedule, with appearances that include Trevecca University's "Bonnearoo" music festival, the Nashville Film Festival, and the Gospel Music Association's "Immerse" conference in June.
Sometime during the summer, Malcolm will also announce a major fall tour, so keep up to date on Malcolm either here at BREATHEcast or at his official website, and follow him on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
