According to spoilers for this Sunday's new episode of Homeland Season 3, it sounds like Saul's plan to send Brody to Iran is going to hit a couple speed bumps along the way. Damien Lewis, the actor who plays the ex-marine-turned terrorist says the mission to assassinate the current Iranian Guard leader so CIA-insider Javadi can assume power will be "far from straightforward."

"It will be fraught with problems and doubt and hurdles, both personal and physical, that he will have to overcome," Lewis told Entertainment Weekly.

With a daughter that hates him and CIA-lover who has to keep her distance, many believe Brody has nothing to lose but a chance at some redemption. But doee he really think he has a chance of surviving the operation?

"Having recovered from his condition and being a part of something bigger than him, seemingly doing something for good, is what mostly preoccupies him," Lewis explains of his character. "I think he's happy to be involved in something that he can atone for some of the mistakes he's made in his life."

In a way, the mission is the best of both worlds for the ex-soldier. He gets a chance to show his family that deep down he can still be a good person, and he gets to spend time with Carrie, whom he obviously still has feelings for.

Homeland Season 3 Episode 10 "Good Night" airs Sunday at 9 PM ET on Showtime.
