'Homeland' Season 6 Trailer Recap: Sixth Season Focuses On Counter-Terrorism Act In New York Following 9/11 Attack

The first ever trailer of "Homeland" season 6 is finally out, offering a glimpse of what fans might see in the upcoming series.

Showtime recently released the trailer featuring the new location of the show. While the clip is mainly composed of some of the most intense scenes in the previous season, critic quotes and accolades received by the show, it gives fans an idea of what they are about to see when the series returns next year.

According to reports, season 6 will pick up a few months after the events in the season 5 finale. The premiere episode will see Carrie now residing in Brooklyn, United States and working for an organization that provides aid for the Muslims residing in the U.S.

Based on previous reports, "Homeland" season 6 will feature the U.S. elections and the inauguration of the new U.S. president, although that remains to be seen. Some spoilers also suggest that Peter, whose life was left hanging on a thread in the season 5 finale, is actually alive when season 6 returns. However, some reports say that while the CIA paramilitary officer will be back, he will return as a changed man.

Recently, Claire Danes was also spotted in Williamsburg filming for the upcoming season.

It was earlier revealed that the upcoming season will center on the counter-terrorism act in New York City following the tragic 9/11 attack that left thousands of innocent lives dead.

In a recent interview, executive producer Alex Gansa revealed that their goal was for viewers to see how dangerous terrorism can be. "Homeland wants to objectively sit back and look at how scared we should be," he said.

"Homeland" season 6 airs on Jan. 15, 9:00 p.m. on Showtime.
