‘House of Cards’ Season 3: Netflix Series Shifts to Russian Based Plot, Show to Premiere on April 25
'House of Cards' Season 3 is going international with its promising plot involving the addition of many prominent Russian characters into the series. With that scenario at hand, it is also possible that the Netflix original series will also tackle some pressing issues about America's relationship with the Russian government.
Originally, the set of 'House of Cards' intended to film scenes at the official UN Headquarters in New York, but the request was declined by a Russian representative. It is also expected that the show will be able to portray Russian President Vladimir Putin's relationship with America, and highlight the ongoing Ukrainian conflict.
At the end of Season 2, Frank Underwood, sworn to office as the president of United States, had to pay a hefty price with Doug Stamper's seemingly fatal situation. Series creator Beau Willimon said that Kevin Spacey's character needs to navigate other options in order to keep his cards hidden from his enemies. Undoubtedly, Stamper possesses vital information about Underwood and his capacity to maintain power.
"What do you do when you're on top of it? Who are you? You can no longer say, 'I'm the guy trying to reach the summit.' Now, it had to have meaning. It used to be that the meaning was getting there," Willimon said.
'House of Cards' received a number of recognitions in the recent Primetime Emmy Awards held on August 25, such as Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series
'House of Cards' is currently shooting in Maryland and is set to premiere Season 3 on April 25.
