Ian Somerhalder Twitter: Nina Dobrev "True Love Does Exist" / 'Vampire Diaries' Star Cautions Fans Against Animal Abuse / Co-Stars Dating Again?

Who would've thought vampires were dog lovers? At least Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder is.

Somerhalder took to Twitter September 14 to caution his 4.1 million followers against abusing animals.

"Wow. Nothing like the most to amazing day in Georgia-happy to be alive-then seeing young fans threatening to KILL their own dog if their fave Celeb wont follow them," the Vampire Diaries star tweeted. "Its a HUGE world out there you amazing young ones. Explore it, love it, love the creatures in it-have a great weekend."

On September 16 Somerhalder retweeted a photo from the IS Foundation of two animals who shared "true love." The pensive Vampire Diaries star admitted maybe it "does exist."

So in case there was any confusion we now know Somerhalder has a sensitive side towards animals and "grown man business." What about his former flame and Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev?

Though the two may not be a part of each other's personal lives, Damon and Elena are still in love in the popular CW series.

Fans still reeling over the breakup back in May are optimistic about the couple reconciling after a couple flirty tweets.

On September 9 Somerhalder tweeted a shout out to his ex-girlfriend after she appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan.

Dobrev responded: "Thank you Smouldy :)))"

Sources close to the couple claim the 10-year age difference was the main cause for the two splitting after 3 years. Somerhalder allegedly wanted to get married but Dobrev wasn't ready.
