There's not much to report on the iMac 2017 release date as the news and rumors are pretty much regurgitating the same speculation. But one thing to get excited about is the prospect about the device getting equipped with the Kaby Lake processor.

Intel began rolling out the Kaby Lake chip in July this year. The seventh-generation processor will still feature the 14nm process since its successor, the Cannonlake, will be switching to the 10nm process.

Nevertheless, this one is no patsy. For instance, the Core i7-7700K processor clock speeds range from 3.60 GHz to a high of 4.2 GHz. The Core i7-6700K has a 4.00 GHz which can be boosted up to 4.20 GHz. The chip also features a 256 KB of L2 cache and 8 MB L3 cache. The graphics are also expected to be higher due to optimized performance, said the report.

The news and rumors circulating now is that the iMac 2017 will likely feature the new Kaby Lake processor; but considering that it did not use Broadwell means that this is not set in stone.

Also, although Kaby Lake chips have already started shipping out to some manufacturers, the commercial distribution may not happen until early 2017. If Apple is going to squeeze this chip into its iMac 2017, expect even more delay in the release date.

The release date for the iMac 2017, according to news and rumors, would be during the WWDC in June next year. Nobody would even be surprised if Apple will hold off the launch until after that event.
