Cupertino-based Apple has yet to comment about all the rumors and news reports surrounding the iMac 2017.

But that's not really a surprise considering that the company historically keeps its cards close to its chest prior to product launches.

For now, any information on the iMac 2017 are based on rumors as well as analysis from online tech news sites. That doesn't stop people from speculating, however.

The last time that Apple released a new iMac wa two years ago. It was 27 inches of 5K Retina display along with Skylake processor and AMD graphics. There was also a 4K Retina display for the 21.5-inch variant, but it's using the Broadwell chipset.

What everybody is anticipating now is that the iMac 2017 will offer support for VR. That means really advanced specs. Rumors are going around that it will feature the Polaris 10 or 11 from AMD. If true, this won't be the first Apple product to be powered by Polaris 10 or 11 as it would also be installed in the new 15-inch MacBook Pro.

Despite their names, Polaris 10 actually is faster with 36 Compute Units compared to the Polaris 11 with 16 Compute Units. Also the former can deliver 5+ FLOPS while the latter can only serve 2+ FLOPS.

According to the rumors, the iMac 2017 will still have 5K and 4K Retina displays for the 27-inch and 21-inch models. However, there would be the new OLED Touch Bar for the new PC. It might also be running the new Intel Kaby Lake processor, which would be commercially released until early next year.
