'Injustice 2' Release Date News: 2017 Game Release To Boost Interest For ‘Wonder Woman’ Movie?
The latest news on "Injustice 2" alleged that it's going to have a release date of 2017 as a marketing strategy to boost interest for the "Wonder Woman" movie.
Wonder Woman makes her return for the sequel. In fact, a few days ago, a trailer of the Amazon Princess battling with the Blue Bettle made its way on YouTube.
According to GameNGuide, GameStop might have leaked the release date for "Injustice 2" based on its marketing plan to promote the video game. The earnings report included the sequel to the versus platform, along with the "Mass Effect: Andromeda" and "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."
The "Wonder Woman" movie, starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, has been scheduled for release on June 2, 2017.
Aside from the returning characters, the new superheroes and supervillains that are playable in the sequel are Aquaman, Supergirl, Batman, Superman, Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd.
In related news, speculation about the "Watchmen" characters appearing on "Injustice 2" has surfaced following the survey tweeted by Ed Boon, the creative director for Netherrealm Studios.
In his tweet, Boon just asked a question: "You wanna see Watchmen characters in Injustice 2 ?" Nearly three quarters of those surveyed replied in the positive while only about 26% said no.
This would not be the first time that "Watchmen" characters appeared beyond Alan Moore's comic, said IGN. For instance, they were mentioned in the DC Rebirth recently, which would suggest some crossovers.
Watch out for more news on "Injustice 2," particularly on the release date, which we will report when there's any new information out there.
