Hee Sun Lee is a talented up and coming rapper, born in Korea and raised in Staten Island, NY.  She just released her new single "I Break Stereotypes" this week. 

We would like to thank Hee Sun Lee for taking the time to speak with BreatheCast.   

BreatheCast: How does it feel to have your single "I BreakStereotypes" releasing today (Nov. 12th)?

HSL: Feels awesome! its been a long time coming.  

BreatheCast: How would you describe your sound and musical influencesfor people who haven't heard of you or your music?

HSL: I pretty much love rapping on any kind of beat, as long as its dope!especially love trap and straight east-coast sounds! its the NY in me.I'm a long time fan of the females who held it down in the past; eve,mc lyte, lauryn hill. i love tupac, for his passion, not his messages,lol. On the Christian side, cross movement, corey red n precise werebig for me.  

BreatheCast: What are some obstacles you have had to overcome in yourmind being a female Asian rapper?

HSL: I have had to constantly remind myself that I am legit. Sometimes thestereotypes in this world are so big that they can even get to my ownconfidence. I may think I'm good, but I can just be playing myself ifsociety is telling me this is not what i should be doing.  

BreatheCast: If you could collaborate with one Secular Artist and oneChristian Artist, who would you choose?

HSL: Secular -nicki minaj.that'd b pretty interesting, lol. Christian- Letsget Jamie Grace on a track :)  

BreatheCast: What advice would you give to up and coming Christian Emcees?

HSL: Be ready. This industry is more than just writing songs about Jesus.It's a lifetime commitment, but if God has called u for it,don't letanyone stop you!  

BreatheCast: Do you have a current scripture that has been speaking toyou? If not, what are some personal favorite verses of yours?

HSL: Romans 12:2 "do not conform to the patterns of this world, butbetransformed by the renewing of your mind."  

BreatheCast: What are your touring plans for this Fall 2013?

HSL: We got some shows lined up in the NY area, possibly doing some collegeshows, then going out of state in the beginning of 2014!
