iPad Air 2 Specs, Features, Price: Review of New Apple iPad - Does New Device Live Up to the Hype?
At last, rumors about the iPad Air 2 have been put to rest as Apple CEO Tim Cook finally released the device at the Keynote Conference in Cuptertino, California on October 16.
Since then many tech analysts and fanatics have taken a close look at the device's specs to see if it lived up to all the hype.
Starting with the design, the iPad Air 2 is definitely thin, and at 6.1 mm, it is the thinnest tablet in the world. The screen size rests at 9.70 inches, which is disappointing, simply because fans were expecting a 12.9 inch screen.
However, the iPad Air 2 is still bigger than the Google Nexus 9 which has a screen size of 8.9 inches.
Additionally, the screen has the Touch ID feature, the same as the one found on the recently released iPhone 6. One interesting thing about the screen is that it resists a glare as it boasts of an IPS display that is optically bonded meaning the screen and the body do not have a gap in between.
Stepping into the hardware, the iPad Air 2 comes loaded with the A8 & M8 co-processor which is happens to be 12 times more than its predecessor. Beyond that, the operating system is Apple's iOS 8.1 and the device comes in three color variants- Silver, Gold and Space Grey.
The internal storage also comes in three variants, consumers can choose between 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB models.
Also, the camera on the device has also been upgraded from the previous model. The rear camera is an 8 MP camera and the front is 1.2 MP. It allows the user to capture panorama shots, time lapsed videos, slow motion, and has burst and timer options. On that note, the battery backup last for 10 hours, which is pretty strong compared to today's standards.
Lastly, the tablet boasts of a high quality Wi-Fi feature that allow the user to download movies, films, and watch streams at faster speeds. The price of the tablet starts at $499.
