iPad Mini 2 Release Without Retina Display, Will This Tank Sales? iPad 5 Release Date Set for September
iPad Mini released last year without too much fanfare just incase it was not super successful but it was quickly a surprise hit for Apple.
Consumers seemed to love the smaller size and cheaper price while still being able to enjoy the feel and apps on a tablet format.
The biggest complaint about the iPad Mini was the lack of retina display which was highly regarded as one of the biggest changes for the iPad Mini 2 on its release.
However, repots are coming out that after all of the hype, Apple might actually release the iPad Mini 2 without retina display. This could be a huge letdown for sales of the new iPad Mini. If it was never discussed, then it wouldn't have been an issue, but with everyone expecting retina display, it seems that many consumers would pass if it does not end up coming with it.
To make sales of the initial iPad Mini 2 even more tricky, they are saying that if they don't put retina display in the initial iPad Mini 2, they will release an update version with retina display in early 2014. So it begs the question, why would anyone even buy the first iPad Mini 2?
Now, these are just rumors and hopefully are not the case, but if Apple thinks it can put out a new iPad Mini before Christmas and people will buy it just because its new but does not have retina display, I think sales would suffer dramatically. Lets just hope that retina display comes with the first release of iPad Mini 2 and we don't have to deal with deciding to wait or not.
In other news, the iPad 5 looks like it is basically complete and will be released in September. As been reported for months now, the iPad 5 is expected to be thinner and lighters then previous generations. It also is expected to look alittle more like the iPad Mini.
So if the iPad Mini 2 was released in Quarter 4 without retina display would you buy one? Do you think this would make sales suffer drastically or no?
