iPhone 6 Release Date: Larger 5-Inch Screen, Durable Sapphire Crystal Patent Rumored (VIDEO)
The iPhone 6's release date is steadily approaching as rumors on how the screen will look have slowly been hinted at being true.
IDTimes is reporting that a larger screen and a sapphire screen are on the way. The sapphire screen could extend past the front panel of the phone and cover up the sides as well. This crystal is used in the iSight camera and is what makes it so durable. This could prevent the iPhone screens from cracking so easy.
Apple took out a patent for the sapphire screen that can be seen here.
The stone itself is expensive but Apple reportedly spent $578 million on it. This may affect the price of the upcoming phone, bringing the cost up even more. However, with a more durable phone, the trade off is not the worst thing.
The current lines of iPhone are the 5 and 5S, which in themselves do not offer that much of a difference. Tech specialists are speculating the iPhone 6 will be the most innovative of the phones yet. The screen is anticipated to be much larger to match their competition, the Android phones.
