iPhone 8 Release News, Rumors: OLED Screen To Offer Better Contrast And Improved Power Management
Unofficial reports claim that the iPhone 7's successor, iPhone 8, will come in two variants: The 5-inch iPhone 8 and 5.8-inch iPhone 8 Plus.
According to reports, both phones will feature a bezel-less design, which means that their screen will cover the entire front of the device. However, Apple is reportedly having qualms about featuring this design as it has already been featured in Xiaomi's Mi Mix phone model. Moreover, adopting this design means that the tech company will have to re-design many of the phone's components, including the relocation of the home button and microphone.
Some reports also suggest that Apple and LG are teaming up to develop an innovated next-gen camera, which will feature and enable "3D photography." The said feature will allegedly be made possible by combining the Innotek technology of LG and the dual camera specs of Apple from its recent LinX acquisition.
"Apple is now studying how to apply its 3D camera technology into LG Innotek's smartphone camera. Since LG Innotek also has its own 3D camera and related technologies, such joint efforts will likely to bear fruit sometime within next year," an unidentified source from Apple revealed to ET News.
iPhone 8 Plus is also rumored to feature a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera with optical image stabilization, a larger f/1.8 aperture and a new six-element lens for brighter and more detailed photos and videos.
Moreover, Apple is reportedly experimenting with OLED display technology and wireless charging. Other sources have revealed that the next iPhone will feature OLED screen technology instead of IPS LCD screens to achieve better lighting contrast and improved power management.
The new phone by Apple is expected to be released in September 2017.
