'It's a Wonderful Life' Sequel to Release in 2015 Starring Original Cast Karolyn Grimes
It's a Wonderful Life has been one of the biggest classic movies of the Christmas season for over 60 years and now after all these years a sequel is in the works.
Original cast star Karolyn Grimes, who played Zuzu, George Bailey's daughter, will be the star of the new film. She will play an angel who comes to Bailey's unlikeable grandson, who will also be named George Bailey, to show him what it would be like if he had not been born.
"The storyline of the new film retains the spirit of the original - every life is important as long as you have friends," screenwriter and producer Bob Farnsworth told Variety.
"The new film will retain the feeling of the original, and it simply must be shared," Karolyn said. "I've probably read close to 20 scripts over the years suggesting a sequel to It's a Wonderful Life, but none of them were any good. The script by Bob Farnsworth and Martha Bolton was wonderful, and I wanted to be involved with his version of the film immediately."
It's a Wonderful Life was released in 1946 starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed.
It's a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story is set to hit theaters for the Christmas season of 2015, but no official release date has been set.
I personally love the original movie and still watch it every Christmas season. This makes me uneasy, as such a classic movie would be almost impossible to make a sequel that is as good after all of these years. However, I will give it a chance and check it out when it releases to theaters.
