Jamie Foxx To Play Martin Luther King Jr. in Biopic "Memphis" Directed by Oliver Stone [DETAILS INSIDE]
Singer/actor Jamie Foxx may have landed his most influential and important role yet. Foxx has been selected to play Martin Luther King Jr. in a biopic of MLK's life story named Memphis.
DreamWorks will be moving forward with their plans for the project, which will star Jamie Foxx and be directed by Oliver Stone.
Memphis is said to focus on MLK's last days as he organizes a protest march for black municipal sanitation workers in Memphis, TN, where he is murdered. The storyline will then go into an intense manhunt for MLK's killer James Earl Ray, who will involve federal authorities that Hoover directed to spy on MLK's every move through the use of wiretaps and whispering campaigns before his death.
MLK's existing family supports the creation of Memphis whole heartedly and who else better to play to the role of MLK than Jamie Foxx after all, he did challenge hip hop moguls such as Jay Z and Kanye West to become civil rights leaders during his speech at the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington. It's clearly in Foxx's heart, mind and spirit to contribute to the movement in any way he can.
