'Jessica Jones' Season 2 Premiere, Spoilers: Jessica Feels Pain Caused By Her Past?
The pilot season of "Jessica Jones" ended on a high note when Jessica was finally able to kill her arch nemesis, Kilgrave. However, her story did not end there. According to reports, Jessica will continue to feel the pain caused by her past in the next installment of the series.
In her interview with Esquire, "Jessica Jones" showrunner Melissa Rosenberg talked about Jessica's healing and compared it to one of the series she produced, "Dexter."
"I learned from working on 'Dexter' that you can advance the character, but you never want to cure the character," she said. She also went on to explain that while Jessica had already killed Kilgrave in the previous season, she will not feel totally fine because the trauma will continue haunting her in the upcoming season.
Now that Kilgrave is gone, viewers of the series can expect new villains to arrive in "Jessica Jones" season 2. Rosenberg hinted in a previous interview that Jessica will face multiple villains in the next installment. While the showrunner refused to give juicy details about the new villains, she assured that the new and unique villains to replace Kilgrave will bring a more interesting and exciting take to the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, Rosenberg confirmed that Jessica's relationship with her adopted sister, Trish Walker, will deepen next season. Some fans even expect their closeness to turn into something romantic, an idea which Rosenberg is open to.
"Jessica Jones" season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in 2018, after "The Defenders" on Netflix.
