'Jurassic World 2' Cast News: Filming Kicks Off March 2017; BD Wong Confirmed To Return As Dr. Henry Wu
In 2015, Jurassic World had a successful relaunch of the "Jurassic Park" franchise after 14 years of hiatus. Currently, Universal is already gearing up for the second installment of "Jurassic World," which will begin production in March 2017.
While details about the upcoming film remain scarce and shooting is still several months away, film producer Frank Marshall recently revealed some juicy details about "Jurassic World 2."
Marshall confirmed that the upcoming film will see the return of BD Wong to the franchise as Dr. Henry Wu.
In his recent interview with Cinema Blend, the producer was asked directly about the return of Wong for the sequel. The producer did not play coy and confirmed straightaway that Dr. Henry Wu will indeed return.
"When they take off in helicopters, you know they're probably going to come back," he said.
Previously, Director J.A. Bayona teased that "Jurassic World 2" would also be "Jurassic Park 5" in his eyes. For fans of the franchise, this meant that the "Jurassic World" sequel will have connective tissue to the original movies, and one of the best ways to do that is by bringing back BD Wong's character.
Speaking about the upcoming sequel, Bayona said, "I think somehow it's both. It's a very good question, and what we're doing is a sequel to 'Jurassic World,' but it's definitely the fifth chapter of a longer saga. It's very interesting. It's always tricky, but you need to find a balance in what people expect to find, and the new stuff you're bringing to the story. And I think the story is looking for a connection between 'Jurassic World' and 'Jurassic Park'--more than what 'Jurassic World' did."
"Jurassic World 2" hits theaters on June 22, 2018.
