K-LOVE Fan Awards 2014: Newsboys Talk Future Movies and Hit Records; Duncan Confesses His Love for Amy Grant (VIDEO INTERVIEW)

The Newsboys caught up with BreatheCast on the Red Carpet of the K-LOVE Fan Awards 2014 where they shared upcoming movie news and Duncan's love for Amy Grant.

The Newsboys were nominated for "Best Live Show" along with For King & Country, NEEDTOBREATHE, Rend Collective, Switchfoot, and TobyMac, who would later win it. They also took home the award for "Group/Duo of the Year," beating out Building 429, Casting Crowns, MercyMe, Sidewalk Prophets, and Tenth Avenue North.

Comprised of former DC Talk singer Michael Tait, drummer Duncan Phillips, keyboard player Jeff Frankenstein, and guitarist Jody Davis, the group has been around for nearly 30 years in various incarnations and with different members.

This year the Newsboys have experienced a resurgence in their music and popularity. Their songs are charting well, and their previous record got a second wind with the movie "God's Not Dead," as it was the name of their album and hit single. They even made an appearance in the film.

"Just being with the fans man. We've had a champion year, God is good and God is not dead, and the song 'We Believe' is number one of the American charts right now, so we're pretty stoked about it.," said Tait.

Phillips expressed his excitement in seeing a number of the performers, and then made a plea and confession of love to Amy Grant.

"A good mate of ours, Steven Curtis [Chapman] is performing, of course Michael W. Smith, and Amy Grant - been in love with her for about 20 years now, she doesn't know it but I'll just put it out there. Amy, I'm there for you girl," he admitted, as the rest of the group had a laugh.

They were asked what was in the immediate future to which Tait said, "You know what? We are going to keep making movies, hopefully making hit songs, and packing arenas."
