Christian singer/songwriter Danny Gokey met up with BREATHEcast on the red carpet of the K-LOVE Fan Awards where he spoke about his Song of the Year nomination and the end of 'American Idol'.

"I don't know how that happened" Gokey joked when asked about his nomination. "It goes to show you that God's grace and touch and favor was on the song which, I'm not saying it's not on other songs but, it was my story and we simply picked my story up and put it into writing. It did so much better than we can ever ask or think, but the best part about it is hearing the stories, reading the stories of the people. It's unbelievable, it changed my life."

The singer shared how last year he just walked the red carpet and did a signing. Now this year, he did the carpet, performed, did a fan experience, and he's nominated for an award. "I don't take it for granted. I'm honored, I cherish it and hold a special spot."

He also spoke about how six years ago he was introduced to the world through 'American Idol' and since then his entire life has changed. "Can you believe it? They just finished it. I can't believe it. There's been a lot of ebbs and flows and God saw fit to allow me to do it again."

Gokey was on the red carpet with his wife, and they shared some nice family moments about their babies and their sleeping habits.
