Kara DioGuardi To Be A Mom!

Grammy-nominated songwriter and American Idol judge (seasons 8 and 9), Kara DioGuardi is going to be a mom! In a People magazine exclusive interview, her and husband/contractor Mike McCuddy are expecting a surrogate child in only a few short weeks, in early February.

The couple has had years of infertility issues and trouble conceiving since getting married in 2009. After three failed IVF procedures they started to consider alternative methods like adoption. But after talking to a close friend who was willing, the couple decided a surrogate was their best option. The two parties settled on $100,000 for the friend to carry the child.

"We made a personal decision to try with a surrogate. I asked someone we knew, a friend. And on the first try, it worked," DioGuardi told People.

When asked if they've settled on a name, the 42 year-old music publisher replied, "We are eagerly awaiting the healthy and happy birth of our son Greyson James Carroll McCuddy."

DioGuardi revealed in her 2010 memoirs, she was leaving American Idol to focus on starting a family and hopefully being a mother. She recently sold her $6 million Studio City mansion and moved to the East Coast where she owns property in New York and Maine.

In her interview with People magazine she expressed eternal gratefulness for the surrogate referring to her as a "gem throughout the whole process."

"I've got two people on my mind: her and the baby. She's given us this incredible gift."
