Kerry Rhodes Gay Rumors: NFL's Kerry Rhodes Insists "I'm Not Gay" / Russel "Hollywood" Jackson Says Otherwise in 'Baller Alert' Interview [VIDEO]
MediaTakeOut released photos of NFL safety Kerry Rhodes and his alleged gay partner and former assistant who goes by the name of "Hollywood." Prompted by the virality of the photos Rhodes, now a free agent, addressed TMZ on behalf of the rumors:
"Photos have been circulating of my former assistant and I that have caused some rumors regarding my sexuality, and I wanted to address the situation...
A blunt Rhodes added: "I am not gay."
Rhodes claims the photos are nothing more than an athlete enjoying time during the offseason.
"The shots were taken during a past vacation in a casual environment with my entire business team," said Rhodes.
Though Kerry Rhodes insists he's "not gay" his alleged former partner Hollywood says otherwise. Too "fabulous" not to speak out, Hollywood gave two exclusive interviews with Bossip and Baller Alert, basically "outing" the NFL safety.
An excerpt from Baller Alert reads:
"I got to know Kerry and we became very close. I moved in with Kerry at his home in Arizona. At first we were just friends and we were getting to know each other. Then we got into a relationship. We were in a relationship for a whole year. I was there, people knew who I was, they saw me as his top assistant. I handled everything for him. No one went to Kerry for anything."
The "Kerry Rhodes is gay" rumors come in the wake of comments from CBS Sports writer Mike Freeman who questions whether or not the NFL is ready for an openly gay player.
"Based on interviews over the past several weeks with current and former players, I'm told that a current gay NFL player is strongly considering coming out publicly within the next few months - and after doing so, the player would attempt to continue his career" (CBS Sports).
A hotbed issue for the NFL, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo recently predicted as many as four players coming out publicly in the near future.
"I know a lot of people are recently talking about athletes struggling to come out to their fans right now, and I support them, as well as wish those individuals comfort," Kerry Rhodes added in the statement to TMZ.
Here's a full version of Kerry Rhodes' alleged partner speaking to Baller Alert.
Does it really matter if Kerry Rhodes is gay or not? I suppose if the Arizona Cardinals cut Rhodes because of the rumors, it could prevent other players from making their sexuality public. BREATHEcast readers post your thoughts!
