Law and Order: SVU New Season, New Crazy Plots. Paula Deen and Trayvon Martin Used as a Story Line! More Detials Inside

As a fanatic of the crime series Law and Order: SVU (Special Victims Unit), I find it kind of disturbing that the series is planning on creating a storyline around the killing of Trayvon Martin and the Paula Deen scandal. When I first read the story I thought, God they've lost it, but most episodes on the series are based on headlines that have recently happened even though at the beginning of each show they warn that "These episodes are fictional and are not based on true events". If they're not based on true events then the show's writers have some vivid imaginations.

The cases of Trayvon Martin and Paula Deen will all tie into one scandalous episode. How will they do it? The show's head honcho, explained in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly,"Tambor is a defense attorney representing a very high-profile celebrity woman chef who thought she was being pursued by a rapist and turned around and it was a teenager, and she shot him."

For those of you who need a little backstory to Paula Deen's and Trayvon Martin's stories here they are.

This past June Paula Deen was scrutinized for admitting to using racial slurs (the N word and others) in a deposition in a criminal lawsuit. Her world was rocked ever since. She lost cookbook deals, and Food Network declined to renew her contract.

Trayvon Martin was a 17 year old African American male who was murdered in February of last year while walking home from a store in Florida. The murderer, George Zimmerman was accused of racial profiling Martin and was found not guilty of all charges.

Now that the history lesson is out of the way, I feel it is pure ignorance and disheartening to even have a plot of this substance due to the circumstances of each case especially Trayvon Martin's. But, will I be watching, YES and I'm sure every other Law and Order: SVU fan will be tuning in for the season premiere.  According to executive producer Warren Leight, "The SVU episode will address the race aspect head on. Is racial profiling justifiable? Can self-defense involve racial profiling? We're diving right into that."

The new season of Law and Order: SVU will start September 15th, stay tuned!
