'Law & Order SVU' Season 18 Episode 6 Spoilers: SVU Team Solves Sexual Assault Case Against Transgender

Benson and her team will face another challenge in this week's episode of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" season 18.

Spoilers for the episode suggest that the case they are handling does not involve any of the current members of her squad.

This week, the Manhattan-based team will deal with a case involving a high-profile record label CEO named Vincent Love, to be played by guest star Wyclef Jean. He and his mentee face an assault case against a transgender student.

Because of the sensitivity of the subject, the upcoming episode will present the politics in terms of social status and wealth, as well as the discrimination faced by the members of the LGBT community these days.

In the promo clip for the episode, Benson tries to make her team members understand the need to become more liberal, especially when it comes to issues that have to do with LGBT people. "It's 2016," she says, insinuating that, at this point in time, people should be more understanding of the liberties of a free world.

The story will follow last week's installment, which stayed true to the series' tradition of adopting real-life stories. The episode involved an intelligent young Ivy League graduate who took advantage of an unconscious girl.

The case was highly reminiscent of the Brock Turner incident earlier this 2016. As the team dealt with the case, the Special Victims Unit detective was torn between justice and loyalty, especially after learning that she owed her career start to the suspect.

"Law & Order: SVU" season 18 airs every Wednesday, 9:00 p.m. on NBC.
