Legendary Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir Heads Straight To No. 1 On Billboard With New Album ‘I Am Reminded’
Six-time Grammy Award-winning The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir has debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Current Gospel Album Sales chart with their latest album I Am Reminded. The eleven-song live recording which released April 6 is the storied ensemble's 30th album to date, featuring worship anthems with dynamic solos from soulful singer Nicole Binion, Sidney Mohede, and Shane & Shane.
I Am Reminded is an eclectic collection of worship anthems that span the traditional black gospel styling of "Now, I'm On My Way" and a remake of Walter Hawkins' 1991 gem "Thank You" to the lushly orchestrated majesty of "Psalm 23," "Jesus, It Is You" and "That's Why God." The first radio single, "God Surprised Me," is an up-tempo and pleasant throwback to the rich choir sounds of the 1990s, led by frequent soloist Pam Pettaway.
So far, the album has garnered over 300,000 streams and 1.2 million clicks on social media. In addition to its success on Billboard's Current Gospel Album Sales chart, I Am Reminded also achieved No. 1 on Billboard's Top Gospel Album chart, combining streaming, radio airplay, and sales data.
On social media, fans are celebrating the new album, responding to posts with comments such as Kahmar, who says "I can't share enough how much of a huge blessing this album has been so far. I will surely continue to share so others will be blessed."
Founded in 1973 by Carol Cymbala with only eight members, The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir now boasts an incredible 300 singers and has gone on to achieve, as previously mentioned, six Grammy Awards, seven Dove Awards, four No. 1 charting albums on Billboard, and have sold over four million albums.
