Lenovo Chromebooks 2014: Specs of N20, N20P Lenovo Bids Adieu to Windows OS, Turns to Chrome OS
Following the successful manufacture and marketing of laptops powered by Windows OS, Chinese multinational computer technology company Lenovo has now started manufacturing Chromebook powered by Chrome OS. This year, the company has released two models of its Chromebook series, the N20 and the N20P.
As far as the specs and body of the two new Lenovo Chromebooks is concerned, they have a strong resemblance to one another. ZDNet reports that the two models have 11.6-inch displays with 1366 X 768 resolution; 4 GB RAM; 1 MP Web camera and a maxiumum of 16 GB internal storage. The accessories include two USB ports, HDMI-out, audio in/out and one 2-in-1 (SD/MMC) card reader.
The Lenovo N20P comes with a flexible HD display that can curve up to 300 degrees which is similar to the Lenovo Yoga tablet. Available with a 10-point multi-touchscreen interface, the N20P model is certainly among the flagship laptops of the company.
In fact, Lenovo fans will notice that this Chromebook is somewhat comparable to the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14, apart from a smaller rack and different operating system. TechRadar review says, "Lenovo used that strategy to great effect, crafting one of the sharpest Chromebooks seen yet."
On the other hand, TechRadar also observed that there is also a possibility that the laptop may not be equipped to accommodate the new Chrome OS together with the major specs. "The first multi-mode Chromebook might look impressive, but will it be useful?" TechRadar said.
The twin brother of N20P, the N20, comes with the same classic display, but with no touchscreen. Consumers who don't fancy that type of feature will find the N20 just fine, as it has been reported that the model will be sold at a retail price of $279. On the other hand, the N20P will be available a little later at $329.
It is also being rumored that the Chinese tech giant will also release a "3G model" worldwide, except in the U.S. market.
