Within the first half of this year, LG released its new flagship phone, the LG G3. This was followed by HTC's announcement of the One M8, which put it in direct competition with LG's G3. Considering their specs, features, and price, experts revealed some of the biggest similarities and differences between the two devices.
Design and Display
At first glance, both LG G3 and HTC One M8 dominate the market along with other high end devices like Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5s. There is no significant difference between LG G3 and HTC One M8's size and weight except that the former boasts a larger screen measuring 5.5 inches. Both packages come with 1920 x 1080 resolution display, though experts from PocketLint favored LG in terms of crispier and sharper images. The M8 variety, on the other hand, projects more vibrant colors so it is definitely a treat for users who are looking forward to a more color-oriented Android phone.
G3 is slightly slimmer and lighter with dimensions of 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 millimeters at 149 grams, while HTC One M8 measures 146.3 x 70.6 x 9.3 millimeters at 160 grams. If there is something worth comparing between the two rivals, it would be LG's clever design and HTC's BoomSound speakers but nevertheless, both are excellent multimedia devices.
Processor and Storage
In terms of processors, LG and HTC run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2 GB of RAM, but G3 is packaged with a 2.5 GHz processor while M8 is slightly lower at 2.3 GHz. Depending on the programs being run, G3 and M8 should operate smoothly with no reports so far of sudden system lags and crashes. Both units are released with 16 GB and 32 GB variants and a microSD slot expansion slots.
Camera
The camera is an important feature for a smartphone, especially for people who are always on the go, but still take the time to capture snapshots. LG G3 boasts an impressive 13-megapixel rear shooter against HTC One M8's 4-megapixel camera. However, the latter features a Duo Camera but expert reviews revealed that the lack of resolution common to secondary shooters causes problems with manual focus in low or extreme light settings. On the other hand, G3 is highly commended for its consistency in terms of image stabilization.
Battery Life
When it comes to battery specifics, LG G3 is packed with 3000mAh while HTC One M8 is a bit behind on numbers with 2600mAh. Interestingly, HTC performs better in power optimization which has quite paved the way for the manufacturer to establish its name in battery consumption. Collective web reports say that HTC has maximized its power saving mode more efficiently than its competitors.
Overall, fans who are looking to buy an Android phone worthwhile of their investment would definitely appreciate the strengths and possibilities of both LG G3 and HTC One M8. The trick is to determine which features largely suit one's lifestyle.
