LG G3 vs Nexus 6 Comparison: Review of Specs & Features Between Old and New
While Google is expected to release its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Nexus 6 (also called Nexus X and code named Motorola Shamu), sometime soon- with pre-orders commencing from Oct. 29, the LG G3 is already on the market.
It would be somewhat unfair to compare these two devices - an older phone with an upcoming one. However, it will definitely be interesting to see how the Nexus 6 fares against LG G3.
Released earlier this year, the LG G3 has a QHD (2560 x 1440) display, which actually set a new benchmark in the smartphone market. While the fact remains that other smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung also caught up with LG and launched their own devices with a QHD display. Even the Nexus 6 will come out with a QHD display.
While the LG G3 has a 5.5-inch touchscreen along with the QHD resolution display, the Nexus 6 will be more advanced, having a 5.96-inch AMOLED touchscreen. Although the LG G3 and the Nexus 6 are both well into the phablet class, Google's upcoming device manufactured by Motorola will certainly be bigger.
In terms of the specs, the LG G3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset along with a quad-core 2.5GHz processor, in addition to an Adreno 330 GPU. In fact, LG G3 is available in two versions - a 16GB storage option with 2GB RAM and a 32GB storage option with 3GB of RAM. Both these variants come with microSD support of up to 128GB.
On the other hand, the Nexus 6 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset together with a quad-core 2.7GHz processor, as well as an Adreno 420 GPU. This device will also be available in two storage variants - a 32GB option and a 64GB option both having 3GB RAM. However, different from the LG G3, the Nexus 6 will not support microSD cards.
Both LG G3 and Nexus 6 use Android, but the Nexus 6 will come with Google's latest Android 5.0 Lollipop. On the other hand, the LG G3 is still continues with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat. However, Google will definitely roll out the Android Lollipop for the G3, but that date has yet to be confirmed.
