Skier Lindsey Vonn Will Wait Until After 2014 Winter Olympics to Undergo Knee Surgery

American skier Lindsey Vonn is hoping to make it through the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi before she undergoes a second surgery on her right knee. Vonn suffered major damage to her right knee earlier in 2013 and is now trying to recover from surgery while training for the Olympics. She recently fell again on her knee during a training run and just found out that she will have to go under the knife again in order to correct the damage.

Vonn told the LA Times, "So it's kind of like, might as well see how long it holds up. Not a lot of options. In the end, surgery is going to have to happen. Just trying to ski solid. I'm not trying to do race runs. I'm trying to build into it. Not push it too hard. But I was still able to be able to be aggressive and confident in what I'm doing so that when I get up to Lake Louise I can hopefully have a good feeling right away."

Her doctors think that she has partially torn her ACL in her right knee after the second crash that she had during training a few weeks ago. They have given her the "okay" to ski in the Winter Olympics in Russia this year, but have told her that surgery will be necessary after the competition.
