This past Tuesday, August 20, 2013 the infamous Dr.Phil gave the social network Twitter and his followers something to RT (retweet) and talk about. Around 6 pm Dr. Phil's account sent out:

 "If a girl is drunk, is it OK to have sex with her? Reply yes or no to @drphil #teensaccused."

Shortly after the tweet was deleted, but social media websites went into an all bash Dr.Phil session and could you blame them? An article on Salon.com called the tweet "vile" urged readers to let the TV host "know what you think" via tweeted responses. The twitter hashtag, #DrPhilQuestions quickly trended soon after. Here are some of the responses,

@Clementine_ford said: "If a girl is drunk is it ok to vomit on @DrPhil?"

@ChinHuaLu said: "If a guy is drunk, is it OK to use the money in his wallet? Reply yes or no #DrPhilQuestions"

@SteveHuff said: "Is it still ok to beat your kids open-handed or should I 'cut me a switch' like granny did? #DrPhilQuestions"

Anonymous poster: "If a TV Shrink makes my daughter feel guilty b/c she was date raped while drunk, can I punch him in his dick?"

The following morning (Wednesday) the show did release a statement about the deleted tweet saying that the question wasn't written by Dr.Phil himself, and the tweet outraged him just as much as it did his followers and the general public.

Anti-rape activist Carmen Rios launched a Change.org petition aimed at educating Dr. Phil that "sexual contact without verbal, sober, conscious consent is rape" and that "there is no question, Dr Phil: rape is rape."

I don't believe we'll be seeing any future posts from Dr. Phil in the near future and if he didn't send out the tweet he should change his password and gain full control of his twitter account. Stay tuned for more updates and remember, "TWEET RESPONSIBLY"!
