'Longmire' Season 6 Release Date On Netflix: Craig Johnson Confirms Possible Series Renewal

Despite previous reports that the series will bid its farewell after the fifth season, "Longmire" writer and star Craig Johnson revealed that the series has been renewed for a sixth season. The upcoming season will pick up where the previous season left off, and will feature the budding romance between Waltmire and Vic Moretti.

Previously, the show was rumored to be canceled due to its poor ratings. However, recent reports suggest that due to the huge and solid fan base of the show, plus the positive reviews received by its previous seasons from critics, Netflix has decided to renew the series for another season.

One review about the series says, "The best of two worlds: a modern crime drama with wit and sometimes heart-wrenching emotion that's also got a glorious setting under the big sky of Wyoming." Nancy DeWolf Smith of "The Wall Street Journal" also said that the show looked so rugged and unspoilt, which was very characteristic of its 1875 setting.

In season 6, Vic is expected to be pregnant so fans can expect more intrigues and drama to come. As for the blossoming relationship between sheriff and his deputy, things will definitely not be easy for them, especially considering the hurdles they will have to face along the way as they continue to deal with crimes.

"Longmire" seasons 1 to 4 aired on A & E. When the network cancelled the series, Netflix picked it up in 2014 and renewed it for a fifth season. Based on the best-selling book series "Walt Longmire Mysteries" by Craig Johnson, "Longmire" centers on the life of a country sheriff named Walt Longmire, who went back to investigating major crimes following the death of his wife.
