Lakers point guards Steve Nash and Steve Blake returned from lengthy injury absences yesterday. However, Timberwolves star Kevin Love was too powerful for the Lakers to stop, as the LA team lost by final score of 109-99 at Minnesota.

Lakers are currently on a seven game losing streak. In addition, Lakers most recent loss to the T-Wolves was their 19th loss in 22 games.

After missing 34 games due to a nerve problem in his back, Nash returned to the starting lineup and finished the game with seven points and nine assists. The two-time league MVP played 25 minutes, about 10 more than he was expected to play yesterday.

"I feel a bit selfish in that we lost but it felt great just to play in the NBA again," said Nash to reporters adding "Obviously the game didn't go as we hoped, but for me personally that's pretty cool to be back out there."

Lakers Head Coach Mike D'Antoni was satisfied with the fact Nash shot 3 for 6 with only two turnovers.

"I thought he competed, and we've got to have everybody compete that way," said D'Antoni to reporters yesterday following the game.

Cavaliers has also been suffering from injuries, though not as much as Los Angeles. Center Anderson Varejao missed three games due to a knee injury. However he returned Monday in a 124-107 defeat to Dallas that extended team's losing streak to 5 games.

"We know we have to get better, we know we have to do something to change this," said Varejao to reporters adding. "We need to keep working hard and trying to think about the (Lakers). Our goal now is to win the next game."

Former Chicago Bulls athlete Luol Deng scored 27 points in Cleveland's 120-118 road victory against the Lakers in the first meeting between both teams on Jan. 14.

The Cavaliers have conquered the Lakers on their home floor in recent years, winning seven of the last eight meetings in Cleveland.
