MacBook Air 2016 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Latest Brand On The Way Out?
The news reports on the MacBook Air 2016 are replete with rumors that the "Air" brand is on the way out to be replaced with the Pro.
The speculation seemed only to be bolstered by Apple CEO Tim Cook's interview with the UK's Telegraph back in November 2015 where he didn't even reference the MacBook Air.
"I think if you're looking at a PC, why would you buy a PC anymore? No really, why would you buy one?" he said. "Yes, the iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. They will start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones."
Then the MacBook Air 2016 had a minor update, which only gave buyers the option of upgrading the RAM for the 13-inch variant.
But if a rebrand is going to happen, it might not happen immediately. The news and rumors are pointing to a MacBook Air 2016 launch in the next few weeks. In fact, Oct. 24 has been bandied about as the possible announcement date of the latest gadget.
According to GameNGuide, the MacBook Air 2016 is touted to be the slimmest in the product line yet. The 15-inch model will reportedly feature an 8 GB of RAM, the Kaby Lake processor, along with the Apple Pen. There are also rumors the buyers would have the option of 5K resolution.
Again, all these news reports are mere rumors for now without the actual confirmation from Apple. However, those thinking of waiting on the company to provide some details on the MacBook Air 2016 prior to the release would be sorely disappointed. People know that Apple is not very forthcoming on information about its products.
