Mad Men Season 7 Premiere on April 13; Final Season to be Split in Two a Year Apart, 'It's Crazy, it's Mad, it's Just What You'd Expect it to Be'

AMC confirmed that the new and final season of Mad Men will be split into two parts and will debut on April 13.

According to the Christian Post, the season will begin with Part 1: "The Beginning" and conclude, after a hiatus, in the spring of 2014 with "The End of an Era." These season 'halves,' will be filmed and aired separately, and roughly a year apart; a delay that has been discouraging to some according to reports. Although, considering the widely lauded ultimate split season of Breaking Bad, it may turn out to be a savvy decision on the part of developers for both the show's popularity and the enjoyment of the fans.

"It's crazy, it's mad, it's just what you'd expect it to be. Every time a new script arrives we just fall on it and tear it apart looking for clues as to where our characters are going to wind up," said Christina Hendricks to the Toronto Star about the final season.

Mad Men originally premiered on July 19, 2007. It was originally nurtured as a creative brainchild by Matthew Wiener, a top writer for the breakaway HBO series "The Sopranos." Mad Men is widely respected for its accurate stylistic depiction of the 1960's from set design, down to hair styles, and dress. Fan's also look to the engaging character portraits of both historical yet somehow immediately relatable 1960's personalities for the often outrageous twists and turns of their psychological development as well as personal careers.
