Marty Raybon joins Tony Wray on New James Taylor Tribute single “Millworker” - out now!
Nashville, Tenn. - Bonfire Music Group is excited to unveil the next chapter of the upcoming James Taylor tribute project. The brand new single “Millworker” is out now, and features lead vocals from Grammy winning recording artist Marty Raybon. It’s the brainchild of industry veteran Tony Wray, who organized and arranged the full collection. Check out the full version on digital retailers and streaming platforms HERE.
Tony Wray and Marty Raybon’s version of “Millworker” showcases the tune in a way that hasn’t ever been heard before. With its Bluegrass / Acoustic approach, it captures the Roots elements of the song in a way that is both attention-grabbing and haunting. Written by Taylor as part of his 1979 album Flag, the track has been recorded by a number of different artists over the years including Emmylou Harris, Bruce Springsteen, Bette Midler and many others. The new edition of the track also features instrumentation from world-class musician Tim Crouch.
Set for release later in 2022, the collection also features Dennis Parker, Shawn Lane, Scott Slay, and others to be announced. As the year progresses, look for multiple single releases to continue sampling what to expect on the full album. Some of the other tracks featured include versions of “Fire and Rain,” “Sweet Baby James,” “You Can Close Your Eyes” and many more! The first taste of the project came earlier this year with the release of the lead single “Machine Gun Kelly,” which features Parker (Rick Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Lee Ann Womack, Tracy Lawrence) singing lead.
