'How I Met Your Mother' Season 9 Premiere September 23 / Co-Creator Carter Bays: "Gloriously stupid episode planned for the final slap" / New Promo Trailer Shows "Mother" [TRAILER]
Though the Season 9 premiere is still a little less than two weeks away [September 23], showrunner Carter Bays has been kind enough to shed a little light on the final episodes.
Fans that have been keeping up with the show for over 8 years have learned to love the gang's inside jokes and silly competitions. One of the most recognizable, reoccurring quirks is the slap bet. How I Met Your Mother co-creator Carter Bays has already confirmed the slap bet will finally be resolved in Season 9.
"We have a gloriously stupid episode planned for the final slap. It's just marinating - I can feel it. ... It's going to be just so delightfully dumb. It's everything we love to do, and it's a nice break from - there's a lot of high drama this season. A lot of big [expletive] is going down. But in the middle of it somewhere is this slap episode that's so much fun and so silly and stupid."
How I Met Your Mother may be one of the most popular shows on television, but when CBS announced Season 9 would the last season, and it take place over the course of Barney and Robin's wedding weekend, not everyone was satisfied.
"The whole 'it's going to be the weekend before the wedding' thing, I get the reaction," HIMYM co-creator Carter Bays recently told Zap2It. "If you haven't been in the writers' room with us cooking it up and you just hear that, you'd think 'They're just pushing back the end-zone line.'"
Tune in for the How I Met Your Mother Season 9 premiere September 23 on CBS.
