MGMT New Album Trailer / 'MGMT' Release Date September 17 / "Your Life Is A Lie" Music Video

Freak-rock band MGMT is back again with their third album, MGMT. Weeks after releasing the music video for their first single "Your Life Is A Lie" the band just posted a 6-minute trailer promo. The clip shows off the band's acting skills along with a few snippets of songs from the new album, due out September 17.

In the video, lead singer Andrew VanWyngarden starts off with his normal morning routine at home. He wakes up, brushes his teeth and gets in a fight with some kind of rodent lurking in his bathroom.

The trailer moves to a late-arriving VanWyngarden to the recording space, the rest of the band is practicing in. Calling a halt to practice, the programming half of MGMT, Ben Goldwasser hears a strange buzzing clicking sound coming from a speaking in the corner. He digs a knife into the speaker and retrieves some type of alien beetle. The band realizes there room is under surveillance and ditch the space.

Apparently the NSA is spying on the band, and realizes they themselves are being spied on by an alien life form referred to as the "Reptoids."

Of MGMT, the band says they aren't compromising on anything with their third album on Columbia records. A candid VanWyngarden admits it might not even be music they'd have in their CD player.

"I don't even know if it's music we would want to listen to," VanWyngarden says proudly in an interview with Rolling Stone. "It's just what's coming out of us. We didn't make a single compromise."
