Miami Heat star player, Lebron James, plans on wearing a protective mask to face the Knicks tonight, following his recent injury. The game will be the first game for James since he broke his nose last Thursday in a win at Oklahoma City.
James wore his mask when took part in contact drills yesterday and coach Erik Spoelstra was pleased with James' progress.
"He'll give it a shot Thursday," said Spoelstra to reporters adding. "He was able to go through today without any hiccups. But he also didn't take a hit today."
James was playing well before he got injured. Tonight, he will attempt for his fifth straight 30-point game, which would be the second-longest such streak in Heat history.
The Heat have won five consecutive games and trail Eastern Conference leader Indiana by only one game. However they have played bad against weaker opponents, and their next three games are at home versus team with losing records: Knicks, Magic and Bobcats.
Nine of the Heat's 14 defeats this season, including one against the Knicks, have come against teams that are under .500.
The injury-plagued Knicks have lost three games in a row, and in their season of disorder, the newest shocking development came on Tuesday. Point guard Raymond Felton was charged on two felony weapons possession charges after an early-morning arrest.
After going 54-28 last season, the Knicks are 21-36.
"I want him to win, and I want him to succeed," James said to reporters in reference to his friend Carmelo Anthony adding. "Obviously he has been playing great basketball, but I definitely don't like seeing him lose the way they've been losing."
